Geopolymers are a class of material that could potentially be used for sealing and repair damaged concrete structures. This application is important both decommissioning activities standard industrial applications. The purpose this article to investigate the interface between ordinary Portland cement geopolymer. surface microstructure investigated by SEM, EDX, micro-Raman after embedding in geopolymer or immersion activation solution various durations. It found induces dendritic carbonation profile into structure following CSH gel. On contrary, creates dense, impermeable with thickness few micrometers. dense brittle it decreases permeability surface, preventing penetration silicates structure. However, sensitive dehydration can rupture under intense drying. phenomenon utilized separate but concerning if integrity must guaranteed extreme conditions.
